NetOne Leads National Clean-Up Drive in Support of a Cleaner Zimbabwe

In a demonstration of civic duty and national pride, NetOne—working in collaboration with POTRAZ, the Ministry of ICT, and the Harare City Council—spearheaded a nationwide clean-up campaign that drew enthusiastic participation from communities across the country. The initiative reflected the company’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility and aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for a culture of cleanliness and sustainability across Zimbabwe.

Citizens from all walks of life came together in cities and towns—from Chitungwiza and Gweru to Murehwa and Masvingo—to join NetOne staff in clearing litter from public spaces, marketplaces, and streets. The campaign not only improved the physical environment but also encouraged greater awareness around environmental stewardship.

NetOne Group CEO, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, emphasized the broader meaning of the initiative, noting the company’s role beyond telecommunications.

“We are committed to the welfare of our communities. Environmental health is essential to national well-being, and we stand firmly behind the President’s vision of making cleanliness a national habit. This campaign shows the power of unity and shared purpose.”

The clean-up drive is part of a broader sustainability plan by NetOne, aimed at inspiring long-term behavioral change. By mobilizing citizens and fostering a sense of shared responsibility, the initiative seeks to promote ongoing efforts toward maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

In addition to its community outreach, NetOne has adopted greener business practices, including reducing waste, managing electronic waste responsibly, and encouraging the use of digital platforms to cut down on paper consumption. For the company, sustainability is more than a duty—it’s a chance to lead through innovation and example.

Though the campaign was a major success, NetOne calls on Zimbabweans to keep the effort alive beyond a single event.

“A cleaner Zimbabwe starts with individual action,” said Mushanawani. “Let’s make cleanliness a daily practice, not just a one-time effort. Together, we can create a country that reflects our pride and aspirations.”

NetOne remains committed to supporting environmental efforts and collaborating with partners to empower communities. With united action, the goal of a cleaner, more sustainable Zimbabwe is within reach.
