Popular Zimbabwean prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church (UFIC) has sensationally blamed vaccines for Africa’s poverty, suffering and underachievement.

The charismatic man of the cloth who was speaking about the Covid-19 vaccine went on claim that the previous vaccines which have been administered on African since birth have distorted their DNA. Makandiwa also claimed that the DNA of Africans has also tampered within the search for the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Are you not seeing the side effects even of the previous vaccines. It’s not always in you dying but look at Africa. If you are still getting help from outside, those are effects of being vaccinated in Africa, it is not all about dying. The way we think in Africa, our DNA has already been tampered with.

“So someone can be sitting today, and he is telling you: ‘Look at me, I am 90-years-old, yet I have been vaccinated whilst I was young. Why are you afraid of vaccines?’”

“90 years what have you achieved? That lack of achievement is as a result of that vaccine. You are not thinking properly, you are not thinking properly. That is why this one that is coming, no one is raising questions. It is because of the previous vaccine. You are not thinking properly!

This is not the first time that Prophet Makandiwa, who commands a huge following and leads one of Zimbabwe’s biggest congregations has said something controversial about the coronavirus.

Last year in April, the flamboyant Prophet declared that his followers would be spared from the coronavirus. Speaking during a broadcast, Makandiwa declared that everyone who heard his voice during that sermon would be spared from the disease.
 ‌
Prophet Makandiwa declared that “everyone under the sound of my voice” will be spared because Jesus is involved in what his church is doing. Makandiwa also warned that other people will not be able to find “this freedom” in a pharmacy.

In 2020, Prophet Makandiwa also said that he as far back as 2016 gave a prophecy in which he foresaw the scourge of the coronavirus.

Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa was last year declared by the government of Zimbabwe as a true man of God. The government made the declaration as they beseeched Makandiwa to intercede with God on their behalf in order to save the nation.

After Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s video started circulating on social media, many people called for the Man of God to be censured for spreading false information. The critics argued that due to his massive following, Makandiwa’s words have the potential to undermine public health as his followers always take his words to be gospel.  Below are some of the reactions from social media.
