A Chivhu teacher is credited for reporting a s@xual abuse case that occurred over a period of four years.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPA) said the offender, as early as 2021, would sneak into her bedroom and fondle her until 2025.
“A 51-year-old stepfather is facing two counts of aggravated indecent assault and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on each count at the Chivhu Magistrates’ Court. He will serve an effective 40-year imprisonment term.
“The victim is a 14-year-old female who was subjected to aggravated indecent assault by the offender from 2021 to mid-2022.

“The victim shared a bedroom with the offender. The offender would sneak into the victim’s blankets and touch her breasts and buttocks, inserting his fingers into her private parts,” said NPA.
NPA said the victim was abused and reported the matter to her mother in early 2025.
“On 10 February 2025, when the offender allegedly entered the victim’s blanket, fondled her breasts and touched
She touched her private parts, and the victim held his hand,” said NPA.
The offender allegedly beat the victim on the stomach after she refused the intended rape.
“On 11 February 2025, the victim reported the incidents to her school guidance and counselling teacher, who then informed the police, leading to the offender’s arrest.”
