Zimbabwe has recorded 18 623 suspected Cholera cases, as at 16 January 2024, the Ministry if Health confirmed on X.
The outbreak has claimed the life of dozen Zimbabweans, 71 confirmed deaths and 333 suspected deaths have been recorded.
“As at 16 January 2024, Zimbabwe had recorded 18 623 suspected Cholera cases, 2 193 confirmed cases, 17 823 recoveries and 71 confirmed deaths and 333 suspected deaths,” said the Ministry of Health.
Harare, having the highest record, has recorded 6 789 cases with 87 new cases, followed by Manicaland with 5 437 recorded cases and 37 new cases, Masvingo has 2 160 with 39 new cases, Chitungwiza has 1 448 with 34 new cases, Mash Central has 889 with 31 new cases, Matabeleland South 408 with 10 new cases, Midlands has 342, Bulawayo with 14 cases and Matabeleland North with 11 cases.
Cholera outbreak is being fuelled by locals consuming untreated water from unsafe water sources and is being spread by the movement of people from town to town.
