Zimbabweans have been left stunned after a video surfaced online showing a couple allegedly “locked” together in a suspected case of black magic at Energy Park.
The shocking incident, believed to be linked to infidelity, has reignited debate around traditional beliefs and the power of so-called “runyoka” or “locking” rituals.
In the widely circulated footage, the unidentified man and woman appear to be in visible pain and unable to separate, despite desperate efforts.
Onlookers can be heard offering instructions and expressing disbelief as the scene unfolds.
“Urikuona vese varikurwadziwa, munogona kumira here?” one man says, questioning whether witnesses can bear to watch the suffering lovers.
Another voice adds, “Tirikuona nawo tosvika manje,” suggesting they are escorting the couple somewhere, possibly to seek spiritual help.
A third person remarks, “Amaiguru yanyomutabai kuti musimuke,” seemingly urging the woman to stand up.
The incident reportedly took place in Zimbabwe, as suggested by the use of the Shona language and the cultural context of the event.
Eyewitnesses say the couple was caught at a lodge in the Energy Park area, sparking speculation that a jealous spouse or partner may have used traditional means to punish the cheaters.
Traditional healers in Zimbabwe have long claimed to offer services that can “lock” unfaithful partners using spiritual rituals. While such claims remain unverified and controversial, this incident has brought the topic back into the national conversation.
As the couple’s identities remain unknown, many are now calling for a formal investigation into the matter, both to verify the authenticity of the incident and to address the legal and ethical implications of using traditional methods in this way.
