Reactive Bulawayo police units on patrol thwarted a Vuzu party and arrested 13 people in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.
Vuzu parties are wild gatherings mostly attended by teenagers, characterised by excessive drinking, substance abuse, and promiscuous behaviour.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the 13 accused persons faced criminal nuisance charges.
She said police units on 24 May 2025, heard noise at house number 5580 Cowdray Park.
“Police officers proceeded to the address and arrested Thabiso Sibanda, a male aged 21 who was the host of the Vuzu party; Ryan Jena (18); Kingston Mafunda (17); Mbongeni Shonhiwa (17); Blessing Phiri (21); Brian Masengwe (19); Prince Ncube (19); Lethukuthula Moyo (18); Mellisa Ncube (18), all from Cowdray Park, Bulawayo; Princess Khumalo (18) of Emagwini; Tendai Nyandoro (18) of Pumula South; and Prince B. Moyo (18) of Nkulumane South.
“Upon arrest, it was established that the party was held at a seven-room house, gated and with a durawall. The host lives with his sister and the parents are in Bulawayo,” said Inspector Msebele
