First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will tomorrow lead this month’s clean up campaign in Hurungwe, Mashonaland West province.
Environment Management Agency (EMA) Mashonaland West, provincial head Rambwayi Mapako confirmed the development.
Clean up campaigns are now targeting small towns and growth points, Auxillia Mnangagwa will head the campaign at Kasimhure.
“As usual, all first Fridays of the month as declared by His Excellency, President Mnangagwa have been set aside as national clean-up day and on Friday, Amai (First Lady Mnangagwa), will lead the campaign in Kasimhure under Hurungwe rural district as we now focus attention to small service centres, growth points and small towns to ensure a clean environment,” he said.
Mashonaland West Minister of State For Provincial Affairs, Honourable Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said the province was ecstatic to host the First Lady following the February national clean up which was led by President Mnangagwa at Kuwadzana business centre in Banket.
“We are happy that the First Lady has chosen to head clean-up campaign at Kasimure in this province which is a great honour.
“Her visit is a clear indication that she is a caring mother who is moving in line with the government’s move to take clean-up campaigns to rural and marginalised areas.
She also said the preparations as of this evening were at an advanced stage with various government department’s, local councils and stakeholders having started taking their part.
Meanwhile on the same day President Mnangagwa will be in Gutu for a clean-up campaign at Mpandawana but terminus. After the clean up he will officially open a laundry and a mortuary at Gutu hospital. Thereafter, he will address a rally at Matiza business centre along Gutu-Chivhu highway.
