Exiled former cabinet minister, Saviour Kauskuwere is set to lose his Concorpia farm in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central.
Kasukuwere who was a beneficiary of former late President Robert Mugabe’s land reform programme had been offered 556 hectares of land.
In a letter addressed to the ex ZANU PF national political commissar by Agriculture Minister, Perrence Shiri dated 17 December 2019, the latter said the withdrawal of the land offer was due to replanning purposes.
“Notice is hereby given that the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement intends to withdraw the offer of land made to you in respect of Subdivision WHOLE measuring 556.17HA of R\E OF CONCORPIA farm in the District of MAZOWE in MASHONALAND CENTRAL Province.
The reason for the withdrawal are as follows: 1 DOWSIZING FOR REPLANNING PURPOSES.”
In response, Kasukuwere said government was using the land downsizing to settle scores.
“Political persecution continues but we shall overcome. Land has now become a fully blown political weapon,” he wrote on his twitter page.
