Prominent Zimbabwean businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life, revealing how his faith and influential relationships played a critical role during one of his darkest health battles.
Speaking publicly, Tagwirei recounted how Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, the leader of United Family International Church (UFIC), once prayed for him and miraculously healed him. He described the moment as a spiritual turning point, attributing his recovery to divine intervention through the popular Zimbabwean prophet.
“Prophet Makandiwa is not just a man of God—he is a Levite. He’s not your ordinary Christian,” Tagwirei said, explaining his belief that Makandiwa’s spiritual and material prosperity is rooted in his sacred calling. In biblical tradition, Levites were a tribe set apart for priestly duties, often regarded as possessing unique spiritual authority.
The businessman also detailed his near-death experience in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when he fell into a coma and his health deteriorated rapidly. In a moment of crisis, President Emmerson Mnangagwa reportedly stepped in to ensure that Tagwirei received urgent medical care.
Thanks to the president’s intervention, Tagwirei was flown to the Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi, one of the Middle East’s most advanced medical facilities. There, doctors were able to stabilize his condition and ultimately save his life.
“I would not be alive today without the support I received—both spiritually and politically,” he said. “It was a time that tested my faith, my strength, and the people around me.”
Tagwirei’s testimony is already generating conversation across Zimbabwe, particularly for its blending of faith, politics, and wealth. As one of the country’s most powerful and controversial business figures, his endorsement of Prophet Makandiwa and acknowledgment of President Mnangagwa’s direct involvement in his care reflect the intertwined nature of leadership, religion, and influence in Zimbabwean society.
While his comments have drawn praise from some and skepticism from others, they offer a rare glimpse into the personal trials behind Tagwirei’s public persona—and underscore the powerful role that faith and high-level relationships can play in moments of crisis.
