Cases of children affected by malaria have increased by almost 10% in the last years, according to the latest Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTATS) survey.
The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) conducted from January to April this year had been last done in 2014.
Child malaria cases this year increased by 7.3% to 21.1%.
At the last Zimstats survey done five years ago 13.8% malaria cases were recorded.
Harare and Bulawayo provinces have low to no risk of the disease.
The findings presented in the capital yesterday (Thursday) were done by Zimstats and UNICEF under government, United Nations, Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance (ZUNDAF).
Zimstats statistician, Evelyn Marima in her presentation said, “child malaria cases incresed in the last five years from 13.8% in 2014 to 21.1% in 2019.”
