Top-Level Coup? Mnangagwa Allies Push to Remove Chiwenga

by Bustop TV News

A confidential meeting reportedly held at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Precabe Farm in Kwekwe has sparked fresh political tensions, with top ZANU-PF insiders allegedly agreeing to remove Vice President Constantino Chiwenga from power.

Despite warnings from senior military figures and security officials, Mnangagwa’s trusted allies appear determined to proceed.

Prominent figures such as businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Local Government Minister July Moyo, and Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi are said to be spearheading the effort, which observers describe as a strategic bid to consolidate Mnangagwa’s grip on power.

Meanwhile, Chiwenga’s supporters, who mainly comprised military personnel and war veterans, are reportedly mobilising behind the scenes to challenge Mnangagwa’s leadership, citing corruption and economic mismanagement.

Analysts warn that Chiwenga’s dismissal could spark serious unrest, both within ZANU-PF and the armed forces. There are fears it could trigger nationwide protests or even escalate into civil conflict, especially if army units loyal to Chiwenga reject the move.

Sources within the security establishment claim that the head of the Central Intelligence Organisation has expressed concern over the potential fallout. While Chiwenga has yet to make a public comment, insiders say he is closely monitoring the unfolding situation.

The power struggle comes at a time of growing dissatisfaction within the ruling party, with some liberation-era leaders accusing Mnangagwa of marginalising key veterans and favouring unelected elites. The situation remains fluid, with Zimbabwe’s political stability hanging in the balance.
