MP Matema Embroiled in Independence Day Seating Controversy

by Bustop TV News

Tensions have emerged within ZANU PF following an incident involving Member of Parliament Buhera South Samson Matema during the recent Independence Day celebrations, after reports surfaced alleging that the legislator positioned himself in the ZANU PF Central Committee tent without proper authorisation.

The incident, which reportedly occurred at the provincial commemorations held at Nhedziwa in Manicaland, raised eyebrows among party members and supporters.

Eyewitnesses claim Hon Matema sat among top-ranking Central Committee members despite being allocated a seat in the District Coordinating Committee (DCC) section.

In response to questions from Bustop TV, Hon. Matema dismissed the allegations, stating that he had no allocated seat at the provincial venue as he was in transit to Buhera for district-level celebrations.

“As the Secretary for Administration for Manicaland Province, I take instructions from the Provincial Chairman, and instructions I got from him from the tent that he was in,” said Matema.

“I was never allocated a seat because I was in transit to Buhera for the District celebrations. I left Nhedziwa before proceedings started. If there is an incident that took place, I am not aware of that.”

The MP refused to address further allegations tied to the incident, including reports of vote-buying and accusations that his actions reflect a growing culture of ambition overriding discipline and protocol within the ruling party.

“All the other questions do not arise because they are premised on a falsehood, wishful thinking and someone’s fertile imagination,” he added.

The incident has sparked internal murmurs within ZANU PF, with some party insiders suggesting the matter be investigated to uphold party discipline ahead of key intra-party processes.
