Zimbabwe stock exchange listed seed manufacturer, Seed Co has threatened to dismiss unvaccinated workers beginning 1 August 2021.
In a circular in possession of Bustop TV, the company says the move is to “protect vaccinated staff”.
“With effect from 1 August 2021. the Company will send all unvaccinated employees on leave and will request to see COVID•19 vaccination certificates or negative PCR certificates taken within 24 hours at the cost of unvaccinated employees as and when they come to the factory,” read the communique.
A survey carried by Bustop TV revealed that, since the government allowed private companies to procure vaccines for their employees, most companies have been threatening to dismiss employees who will refuse to be vaccinated.
The move by Seedco among other companies is set to ignite bruising legal battles between companies and labour unions.
