The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has suspended the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board.
SRC confirmed suspension of the board led by Felton Kamambo on its twitter handle.
“SRC suspends ZIFA Board, more to follow.”
The suspension comes before the national football association’s elective congress in March 2022.
The suspension comes at a time when Zimbabwe is set to prepare for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon come January 2022.
With this abrupt suspension by the SRC, Zimbabwe may face a severe punishment from FIFA, resulting in the Warriors failing to participate in the prestigious continental competition.
According to one of FIFA’s policies, government must not interfere with the day to day running of football in any country.
