Former FC Barcelona midfielder, Lionel Messi (34) is closing-in on joining French Ligue 1 giants Paris St Germain (PSG) international media has confirmed.
According to The Guardian, the six time Ballon d’Or winner boarded a plane heading to France Tuesday afternoon where he is expected to complete his move.
Messi reportedly agreed a formal two year deal with PSG, worth £25m a year after tax with an option to extended.
Barcelona announced the 34-year-old’s departure on Thursday, after spending 21 years at the club.
The Argentinian then confirmed his depature on Sunday during an emotional press conference at Camp Nou.
Messi was in tears as he bid farewell to the Catalans family.
If his (Messi) move to PSG becomes successful this means he will re-unite with his former teammate Neymar.
Messi will also play alongside Mbappe, Di Maria and former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos who joined the French giants few months ago.
Meanwhile, Messi’s move to the Ligue 1 means the Zimbabwean duo of Tino Kadewere and Marshal Munetsi who ply their trade in France will get a chance to play against him as his opponents.
Kadewere turns out for Olympique Lyon while Munetsi plays for Stade de Reims.
PSG will firstly play Munetsi’s Stade de Reims on 29 August before playing again in the leagues’ second leg on January 23.
The French giants will then play Kadewere’s Lyon on 19 September and 09 January respectively.
