President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced a US$150,000 reward for the Zimbabwe Warriors for each victory in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
The Warriors will face Benin on Thursday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, with the match scheduled to kick off at 6 PM.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) confirmed the pledge, stating that the government remains committed to supporting the national team. “As a recognition of the team’s dedication and to motivate them, President Mnangagwa has offered a US$150,000 bonus for each win in the matches against Benin on March 20 and Nigeria on March 25,” said ZIFA in a statement.
Additionally, ZIFA highlighted that this incentive is on top of the US$1 million allocated by the government for the Warriors’ participation in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations finals. If the Warriors secure victories in both qualifying matches, they stand to earn an additional US$300,000 in bonuses.
This initiative underscores the government’s continued support for Zimbabwean football and the Warriors’ pursuit of World Cup qualification. ZIFA urged the nation to unite behind the team as they strive for success on the international stage.
