Ethel Gotora's Unthinkable UK Visa Nightmare

A heartbreaking story of betrayal and deceit has been unfolded when an Zimbabwean woman Ethel Gotora from Good Hope tells of her struggle to obtain the UK visa, which turned into nightmare.

Gotora was convinced that she was nearing living a better life abroad but is now stuck and broke after being a victim of an untruthful travel agent.

The incident was initiated when Gotora was assisted with obtaining the UK visa through a contact of Gotora’s who claimed to be in contact with an agent for travel known as Molline Mupemhi.

According to Gotora is believed to work at No. 81 King George Road, Avondale.

According to the agreement, Gotora was required to pay various charges such as medical check-ups and biometrics, police reports and other processing charges.

To pay for the costs, Gotora sold her stand in Masvingo Victoria Rang for 3400 USD. To finance the entire process, she also sold her Chevrolet Aveo for 50,000 Rands and gave Mupemhi 18,000 Rands. The situation continued to spiral downwards from there.

Despite being assured that the visa would be granted and that she would be able to have her passport stamped with the visa, her expectations were shattered when things went off the rails. Mupemhi arrived in South Africa and told Gotora in December that her visa was approved, but she was be able to cover the flight. Mupemhi also demanded a larger sum to cover medical tests as well as the related charges.

Gotora’s battle to raise the money continued when she sold more of her belongings which included a PA system valued at 60, 000 Rands and handed over to an agent. She was told to transfer money to an individual buyer in Zimbabwe to purchase a TV she was attempting to sell, but as the story unfolded, promises of a brighter future in the UK were becoming increasingly hollow.

When Gotora noticed differences in the information supplied by Mupemhi’s office, things changed dramatically. Her phone was ringing with conflicting stories and ambiguous reports. At one time, she was told that her ticket to the UK would be secured only if handed over $500 to an agent in exchange for a ticket confirmation date that was which was set for March 16th 2025. But the situation got more complicated when Gotora was left in the dark without any answers or help.

Now, Gotora feels that her life has been destroyed due to what she believes to be a scam orchestrated by a fraudulent agent who has refused to give her her passport back. She is now using social media to reveal the identity of the agent, hoping to inform others of the risks of becoming to a scam like this.

“This has ruined my life,” Gotora stated in a sombre statement. “I was just trying to build a better future, but now I’m left with nothing.”
