Popular comedian and actor Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima has finally received his brand-new Aqua vehicle from businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo, following a brief delay due to concerns over Kapfupi’s sobriety.
The handover, which had previously been postponed after Kapfupi reportedly showed up under the influence of alcohol, was completed this week after the comedian made a public commitment to change his lifestyle.
Speaking during the handover, Kapfupi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chivayo for the generous gift. He also revealed that he had been sober for a week and intends to remain alcohol-free going forward.
“I want to sincerely thank Mr. Chivayo for this beautiful gift. It means a lot to me and my family. I’ve now gone a full week without alcohol, and I’m determined to keep it that way,” said Kapfupi.
”Sorry zvenyu about zvakamboitika, zvinowanikwa pachirume”, said Kapfupi reacting to what happened last week.
The vehicle donation is part of Chivayo’s recent initiative to support Zimbabwean entertainers and public figures who have made significant contributions to local arts and culture. His philanthropic gestures have seen several celebrities receive cars and other forms of assistance.
Chivayo, who has gained a reputation for his charitable acts, reiterated that his support comes with the hope of promoting positive change and responsibility among recipients.
Fans and followers have applauded Kapfupi’s decision to embrace sobriety, seeing it as a step towards personal growth and renewed focus in his career.
He once received a car from Wicknell and got involved in an accident and the car was damaged beyond repair. He publicly asked Chivayo to buy him another car which was granted to him.
