The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested one Tafadzwa Shamba of Murewa in connection with murder case of Tapiwa Makore (7) who is believed to have been killed for ritual purposes.

The minor’s body was found in a neighbour’s yard with some parts missing.

The late young boy had gone missing after his mother sent him to the garden and efforts to locate him had gone in vain.

Police launched an investigation leading to the arrest of 40 year old Tafadzwa Shumba a herd boy in Makotore Village. The other two suspects are on the run.

In a statement released by Police Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Shumba together with the other two suspects (still at large) waylayed the victim at the garden and took him to a mountain where they kept him for the whole day. They then killed him at night and one of the other suspects who is from Juru Growth Point took away the head /skull leaving the herd boy with other body parts after promising to give him US$1 500.

As evidence, police have since recovered blood stained clothes worn by Tafadzwa Shumba on the day he committed the crime.

Police have assured that no stone will be left unturned in order to account for the remaining suspects.

Cases of ritual murders are on the increase with body parts being said to be sold across the country for ritual purposes.
