The UK -Africa special summit is currently underway in London and President Emmerson Mnangagwa was not invited despite his re-engagement chants.
While members of the ruling party, ZANU PF and social media proxies would want to pretend everything is OK, indications are that the regime is now feeling the heat .
Having been selling the “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” mantra it is now self evident that the fallacy to hoodwink the world that the new dispensation is indeed ‘new’ has failed to work.
When President Mnangagwa took power, he embarked on vigorous campaign meant to position Zimbabwe as a revived investment destination .
His administration went as far as embarking on a propaganda drive to suggest that the previous Mugabe led government was solely responsible for ruining the country.
While many thought that the once bread basket of Africa was back to restoring it’s status, alas it was just a fallacy.
Talk of reform became the order of the day.
However, the long rope given to the Harare administration was left to grow as the regime had obviously learnt nothing from past mistakes.
We are back to square one .
The same old order that tried to posit itself New from the Mugabe regime has finally gone back to its old ways .
Rule by deception was always not going to be sustainable.
We hear the regime went as far as paying media houses and journalists from the West to advance their interests.
However the deception could not last . The message is now loud and clear . If you talk of reform , do as you say wholeheartedly. Piecemeal actions , disguised as changes cannot and further since our already sinking economy.
