Zimbabwe Republic Police have violently dispersed crowds that had gathered for the Hope of the Nation Address (HONA) that was to be addressed by Nelson Chamisa at 10am.
The address which was initially scheduled to be held at Africa Unity Square was today shifted to Harvest House after police denied availing the intendant venue siting fears of failing to contain the MOB.
Heavy police presents was visible around the MDC party headquarters and as crowds began to gather, police formed a cow horn formation before pouncing on people who were eagerly waiting to be addressed.
Violence broke out and police wielding button sticks and shampoks could be seen unleashing heavy strokes on defenseless citizens.
People passing by and journalists were also beaten up leaving some with visible injuries.
No casualties have been reported as yet.
MDC has since said it will issue a statement on the matter at 2PM
